How close are we to Peat-Free? The RHS reports

The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) has released the findings of the 2023 Transition to Peat-Free survey, resulting in the most comprehensive overview of the UK’s peat-free progress yet.

The Transition to Peat-Free survey was completed in collaboration with DEFRA and industry partners, and was also supported by the National Trust. The report provides a baseline assessment of the peat-free status of the UK’s professional horticultural industry, as well as guidance for the industry and legislators.

The report also provides a verified list of 73 businesses that grow 100% peat-free, including propagation. These are great businesses to support and share as a way of proving consumer desire for peat-free plants.

If you’d like to read a summary of the report, our founder Trewin Restorick has provided an informative breakdown here.
